Arena polo is a fast-paced version of polo played outdoors on an enclosed all-weather pitch made from sand. This means it’s available to play all year round, and given that at Argentina Polo Night we own the only illuminated Arena polo field in the world you can now enjoy polo at night too!
Playing polo at night is beneficial both for the polo player and the polo horse.
On one hand, at night, there is less ambient noise and therefore less chances of distraction and sensory disturbances, which will help the polo player stay more focused and motivated to put their muscles to work.
Moreover, the smaller pitch increases the action and adrenaline that is felt in each chukka, helping keep the dynamics of the polo team fast and full of energy, and reducing the stress that is accumulated throughout the entire day.
On the other hand, horses benefit from night sports as well. Contrary to popular belief, horses are actually really active even during the night, when apart from sleeping at times, they tend to eat and walk around their stables too. These animals have excellent night vision that, together with the illuminated field, will help them stay active and focused during the match until it’s their bedtime.
Lastly, the smaller arena polo pitch helps them be more social and feel more comfortable around other horses and rider as they will often run into one another in the smaller area during the course of the match.
Playing Arena Polo at night, under the stars, is the best way to go!
